Memorial Day Weekend with the Johnson's!

We had such a wonderful weekend with Auntie Ann, Lucy and Kate!  They arrived on Thursday night with much excitement and giggling.  Friday was spent at parks, playing in the pool, and rock climbing.  Saturday was spent at the farmers market, driving go-carts to celebrate Keanan's birthday, at Boomerang Bay (water park) and in the pool.  Sunday was church, the pool, sushi for dinner, and some roller coaster action at Great America.
Ann and the girls flew home Monday morning :(  It was a great visit and the kids are excited to hang out with their cousin's more in July when we are in WA.  We missed you Uncle Brian!

We had a great Memorial Day with friends from church at a BBQ and playing in their sweet pool.  The kids are passed out now!

Happy Memorial Day!

A Lazy Weekend

Saturday was a rainy day here, so besides going to Kyla's ballet class, rehearsal, and 4-H fiber arts meeting, we relaxed around the house.  We even watched a movie (pretty rare around here)!  This down time let me finish the poncho I have been crocheting for Kyla.  With the extra yarn I even made a matching one for her doll, Samantha!  She loves it :)
After church on Sunday we spent the afternoon and dinner at our friends, the Hoffman's house.  We haven't seen them for a while so it was fun catching up.  We roasted hot dogs and made smores over their backyard fire, yum!

The kids are hoping the next few days go by quickly because Auntie Ann, Lucy, and Kate arrive on Thursday night!  They'll be here over the long weekend - fun pictures to come next week!

Weekend Adventures: A Hovercraft and a Sunday Drive

This weekend started with the kids end of year celebration for their PETRA class.  Along with modern world history, the kids in the 1st/2nd grade class learned Ephesians 6:10-18, the Armor of God.  They recited the verses as a class and then acted them out in a song - complete with costumes!  They worked hard in PETRA this year and had great progress reports from their teachers.
The shields were a Grandpa/Dad/kid collaboration
On Saturday I woke up sick!  I was stuck in bed/on the couch for most of the day. :(  This means I didn't run the 5K for Real Options :(  While I was an invalid, here's what Zac and the kids did (made from scratch!).  They even got the neighbors on for a ride!
After church on Sunday we went for a drive in the Jeep up and over Mt. Hamilton.  We stopped at the Lick Observatory for bathrooms and the view, and had dinner in Livermore before coming home.  Here's some pictures:

Birthday, Mother's Day, and a Spontaneous Trip to the Coast!

Let's start with my birthday last Tuesday - Zac surprised me with a trip to San Francisco to see Cinderella on Broadway!!  Best show EVER!!!
Zac's parents stopped by last Thursday to stay with us for Mother's Day weekend!  We had a great time hanging out.  On Mother's day we went to church, out for lunch, a trip to the Japanese gardens in Saratoga, and dinner out!
On Monday afternoon we spontaneously booked a cottage in Carmel-By-The-Sea for two nights to get away from the city.  It was much needed.  We had a great hike around Lobos Point on Tuesday, and another great hike at Big Sur on Wednesday.

Now it's back to "normal" life. :)

Weekend Adventures: Anderson Lake

We had a pretty quiet weekend, which was nice for a change!  Saturday was spent doing ballet stuff with Kyla and working in the yard.  I got ambitious and started trimming some branches of a large tree in our backyard...Zac helped me finish it.  The kids had much fun making a fort with the branches.
After church on Sunday we drove the Jeep out to Anderson Lake.  We did a little hike along the lake shore and another little hike along Coyote Creek.  It was hot, but we had fun being outside.

The kids first week of 2nd/3rd grade went well and they start a Maker May class with some friends tomorrow.

I know you all already have this marked on your calendar...but Tuesday is my birthday!  The big 35!  For a present, I would love people to sponsor me in the 5K Walk for Life happening on May 14th to benefit Real Options (the crisis pregnancy centers in the bay area).  Here's my fundraising page if you're interested:
