I jinxed it.

Sigh. Yesterday the Ireland's came over for dinner which was super fabulous since we haven't seen them in almost FOREVER! Keanan has missed Esther! So much so that he was too excited playing with her to stop and use the potty. 2 accidents yesterday.

Today we went to Mossyrock to visit Zac's family. It was Kyla's first time there. She did great and took a good nap, however the long car ride was not her favorite thing in the world. Keanan got to ride on the tractor and stomp sheep poop (he was excited about this, thankfully he had his boots on, and double-thankfully Grandpa washed them)! There was so much to see and get distracted by that Keanan again forgot to tell us he needed to go potty. 2 accidents today.

I am sure tomorrow will be better as we get back into our norm. Lots to do to get ready for Keanan's birthday!

I'm calling it...

KEANAN IS POTTY TRAINED!!!!!!!!!!!! He has been working up to this for a while. Today he put all of his potty (& poop) in the toilet! Keanan was in big kid undies (not the waterproof ones - he just used those for nap) all day, even when we were out and about in the car and he and Zac were working outside! He told us when he needed to go and for the most part did it all by himself! We are sooooo proud of him! Yay big kid Keanan! This morning he found his life jacket and didn't want to take it off while using the potty. Zac said he didn't want to sink. =)

Yay! Zac sold the Jeep today! It is actually bittersweet, I will miss it a lot. But now we can pay hospital / leg bills! Yay!

Letter of the week - E

This week we made and egg E, an elephant, and Earth muffins! The muffins were really fun (and yummy). We dyed the batter green for the earth and then added blueberries for the water. Keanan has a goofy look on his face in the picture because in the next second he was putting the muffin in his mouth! We also pickup up some cute books about elephants and eggs at the library on Tuesday.I also decided to add a verse to our weekly routine. This week was: Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others 1 Peter 4:10

Even though it was wet all week we managed to make it outside for a bug hunt! We made a chart of the different bugs and then tallied them up. Keanan helped me count all of them once we were back inside. I was surprised that we found 3 snails (I know it's not a bug), they were his favorite.

We had a last minute change of plans today and decided to go into the Hands on Childrens Museum. This was the first venture there with Kyla. We made it in time for the pre-preschool class and Keanan did really well. He has missed Teacher Marci, it was really cute! Keanan also kept his undies dry the entire time we were there (car ride there and back too - it's 45 minutes each way!)!

Tomorrow we are going to pick up some goat milk so that I can make some cheddar. At the same time, Zac has someone meeting him to look at the Jeep. Please pray that he will buy it!

Rain, rain, go away...

I am ready for some sun! My newly potted plants are enjoying the constant drink, but the rest of us are ready to dry out. Keanan looks out the window in the morning and tells me "I wear my raincoat for today."

He seems to be getting the hang of this potty training thing. Only a few accidents a day. He is really close.

Both kiddos have a little cold. Lots of snot going on. But they seem to be in pretty good moods regardless. They do have their moments - like yesterday morning, yikes!

We are hosting small group tonight, off to get ready.

Letter of the week

This week the letter was D! We started by making a dragon out of the letter, then a dinosaur (Keanan's favorite), and on Thursday a duck at Grandma's house with Lucy. We also got some cute books at the library about ducks and dinosaurs. Today, since it is raining, we are going to play a dice/counting game!

Kyla has been a bit crabbier than normal this week. Hopefully it is just a growth spurt. Keanan, on the other hand, has been really good - and lots of fun! However, he woke up with a cold today, so we will see if the good mood lasts.

Seattle Cheese Festival

Yesterday Zac and I spent a few hours at the Seattle Cheese Festival. It was held at Pikes Place Market with tents set up in the street with the different creamery vendors. The were all giving out samples and trying to sell their cheese. TONS of different cheeses. It was pretty neat, but it would have been better if there were not a million and a half people there. The lines were so long that we didn't even try to get many samples. Of the ones we tried we both liked a goat cheese godua the best. We had lunch at Beecher's Cheese, a permanent cheese store at the market. They make their cheese right there in the building and we got to watch some of it in the windows. They are known for their "world's best" mac n cheese, which I had - yum! We also bought some squeaky cheese (which is what I am making right now to share at small group tomorrow.)

After we were done with the cheese Zac wanted to go find "the gum wall" which he saw on the internet. We found it. I felt gross just standing next to it. Sick. It is only 100 feet from Pikes Place Market, but nobody knows it's there! For your viewing pleasure:

Letter of the week

The letter this week was C. We had fun making a C caterpillar, a cat, and some C shaped cookies! The library was closed on Tuesday when we usually go, so no new books this week.

Zac's parents are coming for dinner tonight and then I am hoping to make some cheese tomorrow. Sunday we are dropping the kiddos off at Grandma and Grandpa's house and heading up to the Seattle Cheese Festival!! Super excited!

No Cheese

Keanan and Kyla have conspired together to make sure that I had no time or energy to make cheese tonight.

Kyla decided that today would be a great day to NOT nap. Holy crabby baby batman! Zac had to put her to bed - I was about to loose my mind from all the crying.

Keanan's new potty training undies finally came in the mail today, just in time for me to give up potty training him forever. This was decided right after he peed on the floor in FRONT of the toilet, on purpose! He can wear diapers to college at this point.

Now it is 10pm and I am JUST starting to clean the kitchen up from dinner. I still have to clean my bathroom. Sigh. I just wanted to make some cheese!

Milk in a Glass Bottle!

I have on the hunt for some really good, fresh cows milk for my cheese making. After a post on the blog of the cheesemaking site about cream-top milk, I went looking at the Yelm Food Co-op. There I found non-homoginized (so the cream rises to the top) milk in glass bottles! They are from a diary in Bow, WA called Golden Glen Creamery. I had to pay a deposit for the bottles and then rinse them out and bring them back for new ones. So old-school! I love it! I will be making some farmstead cheddar tomorrow with the milk. Off to grandma's house we go!

Rolling Over!

Kyla rolled over twice tonight! Both times from her belly to her back, although she has been trying to do it from her back to her belly. Zac was the first one to see it, as I was making dinner. But I got to see it the second time. I am not ready for her to start moving around!

Letter of the week and other goings on...

The letter of the week was B! Keanan and I made the letter B out of bananas, some birds, a boat and binoculars! We had fun enjoying the nice weather today and looking for animals, bugs, and plants with his binoculars. We also checked out some books from the library about boats and birds.

On Tuesday night Zac and I put wax on my round of farmhouse goat milk cheddar and it is now aging in my cheese cave (mini-fridge from college)! I am so excited to try it, but we have to wait at least 60 days since the milk was raw.Kyla turned 3 months old yesterday! She had her doctors appointment today and weighs 12 lbs. 1 oz. and is 24 in. long. She also got two shots which she was not happy about, but she is back to her happy, talkative self now.
Zac has a blog! Link to the right in my blog list: Journey to a one legged marathon.

Tonight during his bath Keanan informed us that he has pine-cones. We tried several times to tell him the correct name for this certain body part, but he insisted that they are pine-cones. Ugh, boys!

Zac has gone for a run twice with his new foot. The first time he and Greg made it around the track twice - with Zac falling have a dozen times. Tonight he only did about 800 meters on the track and had to stop because a bolt came loose. He didn't fall tonight though! It is going to take some practice for him to learn to run again - but he is determined!
